Fortune Sound Club

Fortune Sound Club is Rob Rizk's new club in the heart of Chinatown. It's biggest draw is that it's sound system is huge, like unreal huge. So huge in fact that already they are having structural issues from the bass.

This club itself looks nice. As soon as you walk up the staircase and enter the club you are tossed into the dance floor which takes up about two thirds of the club. Because of the layout the room reminds me more of a dance hall than a nightclub, aside from the back half it all looks a little bare to me.

I would recommend this club to someone who really doesn't want to get dressed up, as the general crowd is mainly hats, worn out sneakers, and baggy jeans (especially wednesday nights, but what do you expect with free cover in Chinatown) and you just want to dance.

My next discrepancy with Fortune is that it's not made for drinking, I understand that this club is all about the music, but as far as I can tell most clubs with free cover need liquor sales to make their money, but Fortune just doesn't give the off a good fashion "let's get drunk tonight" vibe, and even if you did feel like getting drunk then your next issue is going to be the service which leads me to the next part...

Table Service:
Like I said, I get that the club is all about the music, and I get that they are new to owning / running a club, but the service I experience here on two separate nights that I ordered table service I receive nothing short of the worst and frankly embarrassing for me in front of the guests I was hosting, service imaginable. Let's run through the most recent experience.

12:00am - we arrive at Fortune and order a table immediately
12:20am - we are introduced finally to the waitress who be taking care of us, she brings us to the table, we order a bottle of Belvedere.
12:40am - she comes back to tell us they don't have Belvedere bottles so I order Grey Goose
12:55am - she comes with our bottle but no mixers
1:05am - she comes back with mixers and we get our first drink.

In case you weren't paying attention that's an hour and 5 minutes later!

1:45am - we order our bill
2:00am - our bill still doesn't come, the club closes
2:10 - still no bill, we ask for our waitress, she doesn't come we leave because we are unbelievably frustrated with the whole experience.

We ended up settling the bill a few days later, but it will be the last paid bill they ever get from me, I will return to Fortune Sound Club because I do like the club, but I will not ever buy table service there again, and I would not recommend it to anyone else, it's just not a high end club with the level of service you would expect with spending that amount of money.
