Circa is the new restaurant to be seen at on the strip. To be honest I'm not sure if there has been more chatter about a restaurant or lounge on Granville street in a long time.

The one thing you need to realize about the food is that it is mainly focused on shared plates, I've heard complaints from people that have ordered one plate as their entree at Circa and have been disappointed by the size of the plate, that's not how it's meant to work here.

The beef tataki, topped by gnocchi and arugula may sound like a strange combination, but works great, and the tataki itself may be the best I've ever eaten. The crisp confit pork hock and shanghai noodles are perfect, the skin on the pork is the best possible blend of sticky and crunchy that I imagine you can find anywhere outside of Asia.

One thing to also note about Circa's menu is that every couple of weeks they replace the two things that aren't working with two new items, to keep things fresh, so even if you did have a so-so experience with the food, be sure to come back and try it again in a few weeks and see what's new.

We hope they replace whatever is next to go with a plate of their tasty tempura anchovies that come with selected plates. Maybe with something to dip them in would be nice. Just saying.
