Pop Opera Nightclub Review

Pop Opera is DHM's, and Vancouver's newest hot place to be seen away from the what can seem like the clutter that is Granville.

Getting into Pop Opera can be tough, DHM is widely known for having the toughest clubs in the city to get passed the doors, even on the guest list expect a wait (see my getting passed the ropes guide for a few hints).

In the same space as the now defunkt 686 (at 686 West Hastings) the first reaction when you walk in is although the club has gone through major changes, still you can help but feel that the club has some of the same issues and it did under its previous name.

First thing you'll notice is the main bar location which is not great. But that's fine for Pop Opera (and for you, if you listen to anything I say) because this is the first club in the city that boasts no sitting room unless you buy table service. By now you obviously know I always recommend table service regardless but at Pop Opera like never before. The main bar is basically located on the dance floor and is very much in the way of either the people dancing or the people buying drinks.

It only goes up from here.

The booths for table services are super hot, and there is plenty of them. If you feel like having a more chilled out table experience, request a table in the VIP room, which is across the dance floor and behind a smoked glass door, where there is a private vip dj and bar.

Overall Pop Opera is one of the shiniest more modern clubs to come to Vancouver yet, and I give DHM a pat on the back for being so pro table service with this club. A hot club, with a great layout (aside from that main bar) and an elite sexy crowd? It's an obvious choice!

Table Service:
As already mentioned there are different areas to get your table service in Pop Opera, the VIP Moet Room and the Main Room.

VIP is where most of Vancouver's nightlife elite congregate on a regular basis. Expect beautiful people, just as many bottles as there are shots being passed around and some of the cities best local DJ's. If you dont now anyone at the club then book a table early to get into here.

Personally my favorite table is the main dance floor table, where you can expect tons of party goers danceing all around you all night, if you are really out to party then i would try to book this table but its really your call what type of mood you're in, either way, wherever your head is at for the night, weather it be a chilled out couples night, or double fisting with the homies, I wouldn't recommend this club without a table.

Saturday night in the back room, hosted by Drock and Allen, you won't be disappointed when your with the cities hottest VIP crowd. Just book early, or else Ill catch you there next time.
